Common name: Poleo, Wild Mint, American Corn Mint.
Botanical name: Mentha arvensis.
Family: Labiateae.
Poleo is yet another member of mint family that grows up to 2-3 feet high. Unlikely other mints, poleo frequently branches, particularly in the late summer. It is easily grown and invasive. It is native to Europe.
Properties of poleo are as follows: Antiseptic, aromatic, carminative, diaphoretic, emmenagogue and stimulant.
The tea made of leaves has been traditionally used in the treatment of fevers, headaches, digestive disorders, eye inflammation and liver qi stagnation.
This plant is also used as insect repellent.
